Abstract:

The primary function of this system is to monitor the temperature and Heart Beat of the Patient and the Data collected by the sensors are sent to the Microcontroller. The Microcontroller transmits the data over the air. Here we are using the GSM modem in order to transmit the information. From the transmitter the recordings are sent as an SMS to the care taker or the expert which have been given as the recipient. Not only we send the information through GSM module as SMS we also display the readings on LCD. And when the conditions go abnormal then we sense those values and then alarm the people around by blowing the alarm and also sending by sending as urgency SMS. The functioning of Heart Beat device is based on the truth that the blood circulates for every heartbeat that can be sensed by using a circuit formed by the combination of a LDR and LED. Depending upon the rate of circulation of blood the heart beat rate per minute is calculated. This calculated value is communicated to remote person through a GSM modem interface to it. Here we tacking the input parameter as a heart beat this is sensed by the sensor circuit and then heart beat calculate by the real time clock. If the heart beat is greater than the predefined level the information send to the concerned person. GPS will track the location and using GSM it will send the information to the concerned people. This project uses regulated 5V, 750mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac output of secondary of 230/18V step down transformer.



Introduction:
In this Project it is proposed to design an embedded system which is used for tracking and positioning of any any patient even at outside in case of abnormality by using Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global system for mobile communication (GSM) and to monitor the patients health with different sensors.

In this project ARM7 LPC2148 Micrprocessor is used for interfacing to various hardware peripherals. The current design is an embedded application, which will continuously monitor a moving or static patient and report the status of the patient on demand and also it informs the concerned people about patients present situation. For doing so an A ARM7 LPC2148 Micrprocessor is interfaced serially to a GSM Modem and GPS Receiver. A GSM modem is used to send the position (Latitude and Longitude) of the vehicle from a remote place. The GPS modem will continuously give the data i.e. the latitude and longitude indicating the position of the vehicle. The GPS modem gives many parameters as the output, but only the NMEA data coming out is read and displayed on to the LCD. The same data is sent to the mobile at the other end from where the position of the patient is demanded.
The hardware interfaces to microprocessor are LCD display, Heartbeat sensor, Pressure sensor, Temperature sensor,GSM modem and GPS Receiver. The design uses RS-232 protocol for serial communication between the modems and the microcontroller. A serial driver IC is used for converting TTL voltage levels to RS-232 voltage levels.
When the request by user is sent to the number at the modem, the system automatically sends a return reply to that mobile indicating the position of the patient in terms of latitude and longitude.


The project is patient health monitoring positioning and navigation system we can locate the patient in case of health abnormality around the globe with 8ARM7 LPC 2148 Microprocessor, GPS receiver, GSM modem, MAX 232. The code is written in the internal memory of Microprocessor i.e. ROM. With help of instruction set it processes the instructions and it acts as interface between GSM and GPS with help of serial communication of Microprocessor. GPS always transmits the data and GSM transmits and receive the data. GPS pin TX is connected to microcontroller via MAX232. GSM pins TX and RX are connected to microcontroller serial ports.

Microcoprocessor communicates with the help of serial communication. First it takes the data from the GPS receiver and then sends the information to the people in the form of SMS with help of GSM modem.

GPS receiver works on 9600 baud rate is used to receive the data from space Segment (from Satellites), the GPS values of different Satellites are sent to microprocessor, where these are processed and forwarded to GSM. At the time of processing GPS receives only $GPRMC values only. From these values microcontroller takes only latitude and longitude values excluding time, altitude, name of the satellite, authentication etc. E.g. LAT: 1728:2470 LOG: 7843.3089 GSM modem with a baud rate 57600.GSM is a Global system for mobile communication in this project it acts as a SMS Receiver and SMS sender. EEPROM is an Electrically Erasable read only memory which stores is used to store the mobile number.

The power is supplied to components like GSM, GPS and Micro control circuitry using a 12V/3.2A battery .GSM requires 12v,GPS and microprocessor requires 5v .with the help of regulators we regulate the power between three components.

 By doing little modifications, this same project can be used for any other tracking System.
